How we Felt in Love with Them
The first time we went to Strawberry Blonde was to find desserts for my nephew who has nut allergies. Little did we know that a few years later it would become a place of choice for us too, now diagnosed with celiac disease.
The first Strawberry Blonde was opened in 2013 by Claire Tomchishen and Jacqui Okum. Clearly, in order to satisfy a need to have an equally tasty product even if people have dietary restrictions. Claire and Jacqui being vegan, they felt that there was a lack of options in the Ottawa region.
I’m still the person who wants the delicious cupcake or whatever it may be, so I really empathize with people who are celiac or maybe have a nut allergy. I took it really seriously.” sait Okum in an interview with Ottawa CityNews en 2019.
A Special Treat for Valentine's Day
Despite the fact that we know how to bake at home, it is always nice to have other options for special occasions. A seasonal menu for Valentine's Day was obviously one of them. Their menu for February 2023 is sublime and obviously tastes like heaven. We took the opportunity to buy some options, which we can freeze and take out for lunch boxes the week before Valentine's Day. It's also perfect for our family dinner on Valentine's Day.
For this year we chose the "red velvet" donuts, hot chocolate bombs, sugar cookies and an assortment of chocolate candies. We also love on their traditional menu, the carrot cake and their cinnamon buns.
